Diversity Management Initiatives with Special Reference to Toyota
Abstract
Diversity management in multi-cultural workforce in increasingly becoming an important issue for business in this era of globalization. Diversity management is defined as the emphasis of a structured management geared toward diversity in understanding, valuing and managing differences and similarities to obtain enhanced communication and increased productivity in any environment where human interaction is a relevant factor. A diverse and inclusive workforce brings a broad spectrum of ideas and voice to every company that enriches products and services they create by actively encouraging respect, trust and understanding among their employees. This paper is purely based on secondary sources and focuses on the initiatives taken with special reference to Toyota in managing diversity and also gives insight into what role should human resource specialists play in achieving the same. It concludes with the emphasis that organizations should strive to increase employees’ diversity and use the diverse workforce its benefits.
