A critical Study on Designing the knowledge Management Infrastructure for IT Industry
Abstract
Knowledge that is applied in making one critical decision is more valuable than the volume of data that is not being utilized. One has to analyze various components to transform existing infrastructure into one that supports Knowledge Management. The first step in this process is the interface between the user and the system and an examination of the elements and components to manage this portal best. So one has to identify the sources to integrate into the knowledge Management system which will lead to a destination where knowledge sources are made collaborative. Finally, appropriate technique has to be applied which one can use to validate the comprehensiveness of Knowledge Management system ‘scomponent sets, which helps to retrofit the IT components. The critical aspect of designing the knowledge Management infrastructure is determined by the best mix of available tools and by integrating them into a coherent architecture Knowledge objects granularity has to be optimized. Granularity of knowledge object refers to the level of detail in which they are stored in the knowledge Management system. It is necessary to avoid overpopulating the company’s knowledge repositories. At the same time, too little detail might make the content useless. The key lies in striking the right balance between too much and too little detail. The business benefits of knowledge platforms are limited only by the imagination of the application developers.
